Brainstorm: Workshop Ideas and Plans for Design Project 4: A Modest Digital Booklet
This week, our discussion goals are a bit different. Instead of sharing a rough draft, I'd like you to use this week to engage with each other in a brainstorming session for Project 4. Pitch your idea for Project 4 topic, and offer each other advice for developing your ideas.
In pitching your idea, talk about your ideas for:
purpose (What will your booklet be about? How will your audience use the booklet?)
audience (Who will read the booklet? What specific communities, organizations, or groups would benefit from it?)
design choices (How will try to amplify your purpose and connect to your audience with strategic choices about color, image, typeface, layout, etc.?)
organization (How will you arrange the information/text/images you present to your audience? How will you help your audience keep track of things as they move through the booklet?)
In your feedback to your classmates, make sure you are responding to these specific categories: purpose, audience, design choices, and organization.
To fulfill the criteria for this week's discussion:
Post your brainstorm "pitch" for Project 4 to the #week14discussion channel in Slack. You should post your pitch before 11:59 pm on Monday, November 13.
Make sure you're all caught up on the scheduled readings from our textbook and calendar. This will help you offer your classmates good advice about contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity, and other important design concepts.
By Friday, you should participate in the Slack discussion by offering thoughtful advice and drafting ideas to your classmates. Comment on their Project 4 pitch, and offer specific suggestions. Positive encouragement is also appreciated!
