This week, our Slack discussion will be fairly straightforward: Read the texts listed under week 6 on our calendar, think about what you've learned from them (and the questions the texts raised for you), and have an informal discussion about your ideas with your classmates in the #week06discussion channel.
This week, all of the readings are focused on the rhetorical use of color. How do we—as designers of documents—think about color as a tool for conveying emotion, capturing attention, aiding memory, emphasizing ideas, and more? What pitfalls should we avoid when thinking about color choice in documents? How do we know when we've settled on a color palette that will do the rhetorical work we need it to do? By "rhetorical work" I mean: how will our color choices help us create documents that achieve their purpose for the intended audience in the appropriate context?
If you still need help figuring out what to say during this week's Slack discussion, have no fear! Just watch the Week 6 Video Notes for ideas.
Remember, since this isn't a peer response week, you just need to make sure you've met all of the Slack discussion criteria by 11:59 pm on Friday, September 22. Can't remember the grading criteria? Remember that I grade them on a pass/fail basis. For details, hop over to the main Slack discussion page.
